Hi, I’m karen.

My connection with Japan began more than 30 years ago. What started as curiosity grew into a lifelong journey through many regions and seasons. I have traveled through regions, island towns, countryside ryokans, and small neighborhoods that most visitors never see. I studied Japanese in college and continued learning through travel and immersion.

Over time, friends, relatives, and colleagues began asking me for help with their Japan trips. They often felt overwhelmed by the details such as trains, timing, reservations, cultural expectations, and how to choose between too many options. I found myself creating itineraries that made sense for them personally, paying attention to pacing, logistics, and small details that made their experience smoother.

My background is in User Experience Design (UX), so I approached travel planning the same way I design experiences. I listened to what people needed, what they worried about, and what excited them. I then shaped itineraries that reduced friction and made each day flow naturally.

Helping people this way became more than a hobby. It became something I loved, because it combined my deep connection with Japan and my passion for designing experiences that truly work for people.

My Approach

How My UX Background Shapes This Work

UX taught me to understand people deeply before creating anything for them. I bring that same mindset to travel planning. Before building any itinerary, I learn how you like to move through your day, what energizes you, what slows you down, and what you want to experience most.

I think about the order of your days the same way I think about user journeys. I consider what should happen first, what comes next, and how transitions should feel. I pay attention to timing, walking distances, train connections, dining logistics, and what can realistically fit into a single day. The result is a travel experience that feels intuitive, well-designed, and enjoyable from beginning to end.

What I Bring to Your Journey

My value comes from a blend of long-term Japan experience and a design-oriented approach. I know how Japan works on the ground, including the rhythm of daily life, neighborhood differences, train systems, dining culture, and what truly matters when moving around the country.

Most importantly, I bring a personal approach. You work directly with me, and every recommendation comes from experience, not from a template. Your travel feels smooth and stress free.
